Kristin Hoke

Kristin Hoke anchors WPBF News at 5 and 11 p.m., part of the tri-anchor female news team. She joined WPBF in the fall of 2000. Her arrival was like a homecoming, due to her strong family ties to Florida.

Kristin's great uncle, Harry Hoke, came to the Treasure Coast in 1933 and helped settle part of Jensen Beach. He and his family cleared hundreds of acres of land, by hand, to help establish what is now Ocean Breeze Park, along the Indian River.

Kristin is very proud of her family's donation decades ago, that helped build the fifth branch of the Martin County library system, named the Hoke Library.

Kristin's career started in 1988. She worked off-camera writing and producing in Washington D.C., Chicago, and Detroit. After graduating from the University Of Michigan with a bachelor's of arts in communications, Kristin started her on-air career reporting and anchoring in Lansing, Michigan. Several years later, Kristin moved south to anchor and report for WBIR in Knoxville, Tennessee.

In 1997, her next adventure took her to California, where she anchored and reported for the Fox station in Fresno. Kristin joined the WPBF news team four weeks before the controversial 2000 Presidential election. One of the greatest challenges of her life came in 2005 when she battled and beat breast cancer. Kristin worked through her ten month treatment. From chemotherapy sessions, to losing her hair -- Kristin shared her battle with viewers. Kristin received four emmy nominations for her work. She now dedicates much of her time to cancer organizations to raise awareness and research funds for a cure.

When not working, Kristin and her husband Eric enjoy boating, fishing and working on home improvement projects. Buddy was their first “baby” -- a 100 pound black lab!, followed by their daughter Bella in April 2007.
